The Bendigo Regional Athletics Track is set to be abuzz this Saturday 8th of October, with the return of the Little Athletics and Athletics Bendigo seasons for 2022-23. Due to the unfavourable weather forecast, the Little Athletics session on Friday night has been re-scheduled to Saturday morning, commencing at 8:15am. The Athletics Victoria Shield League (AVSL) round will commence for Athletics Bendigo athletes in the afternoon from 1:30pm
Morning is Little A’s time to shine!
Little Athletics is a fantastic sport where the entire family can get involved on a weekly basis. Your child will enjoy learning new skills, the excitement of participation and making new friends.
Each week, little athletes participate in a different program of events. This helps to keep the action fresh for participants and parents. There are three different programs that cycle through the season.
If you’re not sure about it, please feel free to come down, have a look and meet some of the coaches and volunteers. They will be warmly encouraging of any youngster wanting to have a go!

Afternoon it’s time for Athletics Bendigo’s AVSL Round 1
Yes, “track is back” in a big way, with the beginning of the Athletics Victoria competition for athletes aged 17 years and up! There’s running, jumping and throwing options galore as part of PROGRAM 1. Events alternate each week.
What is AVSL?
Contested during the summer season, this year from October 2022 to March 2023, the Athletics Victoria Shield League (AVSL) is Athletics Victoria’s summer track and field competition. With over 50 clubs and five AVSL divisions, clubs battle it out across ten rounds of AVSL to see who makes it to the AVSL Playoffs in March and, to decide promotion and relegation from each of the divisions.
Each athlete can register for and compete in as many events as they wish. Athletes will be scored based on a performance scale, with their best three individual events (Plus one relay) counting towards their club’s overall score.
To compete in AVSL, an AV BASE membership, Summer package, or MAX Package is required. You can purchase a membership here or upgraded to here. However, if you wish just to come and try, you can pre-enter online as a trialling participant for one round!
