Bendigo region’s stars in hot form at 2021 Victorian state championships

The medal haul for Bendigo Region on the first weekend of Athletics Victoria’s track and field championships hit 10. A great tally for Flack Advisory Services Group-backed Bendigo Region was three gold, four silver and three bronze. There were outstanding feats across many events as the competition was run on Friday night and across Saturday and Sunday at Lakeside Stadium in Albert Park.

Following the announcement from Premier Daniel Andrews this afternoon, Victoria will move into Stage 4 Lockdown from 11.59pm tonight (Friday 12th February 2021) until Wednesday 17th February 2021. We are providing advice from Athletics Victoria, Athletics Bendigo and Little Athletics Bendigo about a number of upcoming competitions that will now be cancelled. Please note the following local Athletics Bendigo and Little Athletics Bendigo events are cancelled: - Saturday 13 February – AVSL Round 7 - Saturday 13 February & Sunday 14 February – Little Athletics Regional Championships - Tuesday 16 February – Tuesday Night Track Series

Athletes from Flack Advisory Services Group-backed Bendigo Region were in hot form on home turf at the weekend’s Athletics Victoria, Australian Masters and Victorian Masters multi-event championships. There was hot competition across all age groups as the 10-discipline decathlon or seven-event heptathlon were contested at the Retreat Road complex in Flora Hill.

Liam Shadbolt cleared 1.83m at high jump to set a Bendigo Centre record for under-15s and under-14s and Eaglehawk and Bendigo Harriers kept the heat on rivals in the weekend’s sixth round of Athletics Victoria Shield League track and field action. The Bendigo round was run on Friday as a twilight/night meet at the Flora Hill complex. In a fierce fight to earn a top two place and promotion for next season, Eaglehawk scored 26,452 to be second in the division two standings.
