THE Tickell siblings, Logan and Chelsea starred at last Thursday night’s opener to the Victorian Milers running season at the Box Hill track.

Logan, 14, raced in the D-grade 3000m and clocked a superb time of 8:48.13 to be fourth in the 7 ½ lap duel.

The rising star from South Bendigo Athletics Club broke the Bendigo Centre’s residential record of 8:56.53 for under-16s set by University’s Jayden Padgham at Lakeside Stadium last February.

It was a dramatic improvement by Tickell who set the under-15s record of 9:04.33 at Box Hill on April 1 this year.

A highlight of the women’s D-grade 800m was the run by Chelsea Tickell.

The 12-year-old achieved a time of 2:25.02 to be second.

A big night of racing included the women’s A-grade 3000m in which University’s Nicolette Lesberg ran 10:08.82 to be 14th.

Bendigo Harriers’ clubmates Brett Gilligan and David Morrissey ran 2:12.74 and 2:17.56 to be 7th and 11th in the G-grade 800m.

Next round of the Victorian Milers season will be on December 16 at Box Hill.

Round three is at Box Hill on January 20 and will be followed by Lakeside on February 8 and the season finale on March 10 at Murrumbeena.
