Athletics Victoria’s AVSL Playoffs this year will take place across 2 consecutive weekends held at 5 venues (3 Country & 2 Metro) across Victoria allowing athletes to compete and contribute points in their nominated events.

Each club and athlete will have something to play for during the AVSL Playoffs this year with the top 5 teams in each division playing off for the AVSL divisional Shield. The bottom 5 teams in Division 1 through to 4 will competing to avoid relegation.

Across the two weekends of playoffs, athletes will be able to contribute points in 3 individual events and 1 relay on weekend 1 and weekend 2. This new format of Playoffs will allow greater opportunity for participation and incentive to compete for success, survival or relegation!

There have been a few changes to previous years, so we urge members to read the AVSL Playoffs FAQ Document linked on the event page to ensure that you understand the rules.

To be eligible, athletes must have a recorded performance in that event (or in an event listed as similar – refer AVSL rule 6.3) at AVSL, as well as having competed in at least three (3) preliminary rounds of AVSL. Athletes that have eligibility to participate at an individual event at AVSL Playoffs are eligible to participate in any relays held at AVSL Playoffs.

Click on Series>AVSL>Eligibility (2nd blue button on the LHS). No invitational or non-eligible athletes will be able to enter the playoffs. Further to this, athletes MUST compete at their clubs HOME Venue unless otherwise approved by Athletics Victoria. The entry system will not allow you to enter a venue other than your own. Requests for exceptions can be made to the AV team here.

Entries are taken as in all previous rounds with Bendigo managing their own entries, with the entries opening on a Wednesday at 5pm and closing at 8:pm on following Wednesday. respectively.

Where does the race go?

The Dragon Mile starts and finishes at the corner of Pall Mall and Mundy Street. Runners travel to the Fountain and turn right up View Street to Dudley House, they then turn around and return back to start.

10:00am – Entrants please report on Race Day by 10.00am to starting point in Pall Mall at Gold Monument (near race start) to collect Race Bib Number.

GYM CHALLENGE

The Gym Challenge is a brand new initative for the 2023 Bendigo Bank Dragon Mile, the Gym Challenge cup will be awarded to the winning Gym team with the 1st 2 Male and 1st 2 Females across the line on accumulative time.
