ABOUT LITTLE ATHLETICS IN BENDIGO

The 2023/24 Bendigo Little Athletics Season will commence on Friday 6 October 2023.

Little Athletics welcomes young people with a wide range of abilities, skill and fitness levels.

Little Athletes participate and compete weekly with their friends, learning the many disciplines of athletics. These disciplines include running (sprinting, hurdles, endurance running), jumping (long jump, high jump, triple jump) and throwing (discuss, shot put, javelin).

Each season there are also opportunities for Little Athletes to participate in championship events, skills clinics and other great activities.

From 5 years old to 16 years of age

Little Athletics is open to children who are 5 years of age or older, and who are 16 years of age or younger at the end of the calendar year in which the summer season commences.

Come and Try

Little Athletes who have not been a member of a Centre before are warmly invited to take part in a two-week FREE trial period. This gives everyone (including the child, mum, dad and / or guardians) a good understanding of what Little Athletics is and how the weekly events operate.

Parents and family can get involved, too.

The Little Athletics in Bendigo is a family-oriented and operated program, where parents and family are encouraged (and required!) to get involved in a range of duties. These duties include helping to officiate events, time-keeping, canteen duty, raking jumping pits, setting-up, moving and packing down equipment and more.

Join the crew. Wear the Uniform

Once a Little Athlete is fully registered it is a requirement to wear the Bendigo Little Athletics Centre uniform.  Uniforms can be purchased at the Registration Collection Afternoon or on any competition day. Please contact us for more information about uniform ordering and costs.

Little Aths is lots of fun. I’m always improving and keeping fit and active. I like competing against other centres at Regionals and States. I really like all the friends I’ve made, too.

Will, Bendigo Little Athlete

I like Little Aths because running is my favourite sport and it’s fun!

Tate, Bendigo Little Athlete

I like Little Aths because there are all different events and it means that everyone gets the chance to have a go at something that they like because it’s not the same every week. You get to make new friends and be part of a club that is like a little family.
