Upcoming Summer Holiday Camps: Throws, Jumps and Pole Vault

Athletics Bendigo is offering a series of two day training camps for any athletes aged 12 (Grade 6 in 2023) and older to improve their Throws, Jumps and Pole Vault this summer. The camp will be held over two days of two hour sessions each day (10:00am - 12noon) at the Bendigo Regional Athletics Track on Tuesday 10th and Wednesday 11th January 2023.

The Bendigo Regional Athletics Track is set to be abuzz this Saturday 8th of October, with the return of the Little Athletics and Athletics Bendigo seasons for 2022-23. Due to the unfavourable weather forecast, the Little Athletics session on Friday night has been re-scheduled to Saturday morning, commencing at 8:15am. The Athletics Victoria Shield League (AVSL) round will commence for Athletics Bendigo athletes in the afternoon from 1:30pm.

South Bendigo athlete and Australian Shot Put Champion, Emma Berg, is preparing to board a plane for Europe to compete in three international competitions representing Australia in July and August. Whilst the idea of overseas competition may seem glamorous, it's also expensive, with the trip set to cost at least $6,000.00. Emma and her coach, Peter Barrett, are calling for tax deductible donations of support to enable her to make it to the 'toe board' at two UK Championships (Under 23 and Open) and the AAI games in Ireland from the 13th of July to the 1st of August, 2022.

James Woods aims to vault higher in nationals lead-up

NEWLY-CROWNED Victorian under-20 champion in pole vault, James Woods will be aiming to fly higher at this month’s national track and field championships at Sydney’s Olympic Park. A multiple record-holder for Athletics Bendigo Region, Woods recently cleared 4.80m to win gold in the state title showdown at South Melbourne’s Lakeside Stadium. The 19-year-old vaulting star will be aiming to soar higher at the Rare Air Meet being held this Sunday at Melbourne University.
